Final Thoughts

There is much more that can be said of the history of Black people, to be researched, to be written, and to be taught. This is what makes history so exciting... it goes as the research and interpretations take it.

Areas requiring further investigation would be the out migration of young Blacks, the ongoing rascism that periodically flares up, and the isolation of Blacks. The out migration has severly lowered the population. Young Black males generally leave to settle in other parts of Canada; young Black females left (1950's, 1960's) to marry American servicemen and have had their families in the United States.

Racism in areas such as jobs, housing , and "social" establishments still exists, largely the results of stereotyping. Exclusion creates isolation and both sides suffer from the bitterness produced.

However, progress continues and the community has been proud and supportive of each and every gain.
