Twentieth Maine: I Company Civil War Re-enactment Group

The Twentieth Maine: I Company found within its ranks 121 Canadians, specifically, Maritimers. Included in those ranks was young "Alexander Lester" of Saint John, New Brunswick. On July 1st, 1863, I Company was involved in the most pivotal battle of the U.S. Civil War; Gettysburg. During this battle, Alexander Lester was killed in action while valiantly defending the right flank at Little Round Top. I Company's success at Little Round Top and the subsequent victory at the Battle of Gettysburg turned the tides of war in favour of the Union army and forced the Confederate army to retreat to Virginia; the greycoats never recovered. Members of the Twentieth Maine: I Company civil war re-enactment group are currently trying to find the final resting place of Alexander Lester.
