It was "the most spectacular demonstration of
flying skills ever seen in Saint John". On August 20, 1931, the Trans
Canada Air Pageant made its first Maritime stop ever, at the Saint John
Municipal Airport in Saint John, NB. Thousands of spectators lined the field to
see the 16 air ships perform daring stunts, such as "flip flopping",
"looping", "spinning", low altitude aerobatics, "the
falling leaf"(a zig-zag antic), and parachute jumpers. At one point in the
show they played "follow the leader" and during this air chase they
circled the entire city. The three Sisken Fighter planes flown by CAF pilots
demonstrated air fighting techniques and bombing of stationary objects.
