Some of the tenement houses known as "Brown Row" lasted a few years after the mine closed.
The manager's house lasted well into living memory, as did one of the engine house chimneys. But the only truly lasting momento of our once major export is the piles of unusable broken rock, reminders of the money and the fuel sent away. These remnants can be seen along the gravel road which runs from Ing's Intervale out to a junction near the Albert Mines Baptist Church. Albert county is still being studied today by geologists and scientists, hoping to find a way to profitably mine the oil shales still trapped in the ground.
