The Cowal Pipe Band Championships is a very prestigious competition held every year in Scotland. The Cowals are viewed by many as being as important as the World Championships which are usually held around the same time of year to accomodate bands travelling from all over the world. The Jervis Bay (Memorial) Pipe Band has competed in the Cowal Games on a number of occasions, always representing Saint John with a high degree of skill and integrity.
In 1974 the Jervis Bay (Memorial) Pipe Band competed in the Grade 3 level at the annual Cowal Games in Dunoon, Scotland. The Jervis Bay Drumming section won the MacBrayne Trophy for finishing 1st place in Grade 3 Drumming. Overall the Jervis Bay (Memorial) Pipe Band finished in the top 10 out of 39 other bands which competed in Grade 3 at Dunoon.
Once again the Cowal Games were held in
Dunoon, Scotland and again the Jervis Bay (Memorial) Pipe Band showed their
skill and discipline by finishing 5th out of a total of
28 other bands in Grade 3. Altogether at the 1983 Cowal Games there were
