Other Accomplishments
There are many other international and local Pipe Band Competitions which
the Jervis Bay (Memorial) Pipe Band has competed in over the years and they
have always done well in any competition that they were involved in. The
following is a listing and description of some of their accomplishments.
- 1975... 1st place in Grade 3 competition at the Thousand Islands
Games in Ontario.
- 1976... crowned "Champion Supreme" of the Maritime
Provinces Grade 3 level. This distinguished them as the band which accumulated
the most overall points from the various designated contests.
- 1977... 1st place in Grade 3 at the Annual Montreal Highland games
in Quebec. This was the inaugural year for this competition.
- 1979... 2nd place in Grade 3 at the North American Pipe Band
Championships in Maxville, Ontario. They also finished 1st at the International
Gathering of the Clans Competition in Antigonish, Nova Scotia.
- 1982... 2nd place at the New Brunswick Music Festival in Saint John
and they also won 1st place at the New Brunswick Highland Games in Fredericton.
1982 was also the year in which the band won 1st place at the North American
Championships in Grade 3 in Maxville, Ontario.
- 1983, 1984, 1987 and 1989... 1st place in Grade 2 at the New
Brunswick Highland Games in Fredericton and Oromocto.
- 1990... 1st at the Pugwash Highland Gathering and 4th place at the
Montreal Highland games.
Ford World Curling Championship
April 4 to April 11, 1999
Here are some of the members of the Jervis Bay
(Memorial) Pipe Band who attended the Ford World Curling Championship in April
of 1999. The band was responsible for escorting the various countries out to
play their matches. They also performed in the opening and closing ceremonies
with other local pipe bands from the City of Saint John and surrounding areas.
