In May of 1922, there was a fire which devastated much of Lancaster. Both of these pictures of the fire were taken of Main Street. It destroyed the Driscoll Store and much of Lancaster.





Click for an Enlarged Fairville Fire Station Click for an Enlarged Fire Station in BeaconsField! As a direct result of the fire of 1922, two fire stations were built. The first was constructed in 1923; the second was finished in 1930. Both buildings are still standing. The station on the left is a barber shop; the other, a private residence.





Click for an Enlarged Fairville Fire Station today Click for an Enlarged Fire Station in BeaconsField today! These are the same buildings today. The 1923 fire station is now a beauty salon. Someone is now living in the place which was once the 1930 fire station.
