For more than a century there were many street railway systems
in the history of Canada. These systems ranged in size from small which
consisted of a few cars to huge systems such as those in Montreal and Toronto.
This site is devoted to the Streetcar System of Saint John, New Brunswick.
Streetcars of Saint John, also known as trolleys, were a mode
of transportation similar to buses, but ran on rails through the main streets
of the city. They were small red four-wheeled, double-ended streetcars and
could hold a number of people based on their size. When these streetcars first
came into use, they were hauled by horses and later converted to electricity.

We hope this site will not only be of interest to those who knew these small
red cars, but also to those who didn't, but who may be interested in their
story.
