Carving of the Corporate Seal

Click to enlargeThis carving of the Corporate Seal hung over the Wardens chair in the Municipal Council Chamber in the Court House. It is said to be carved out of one solid piece of wood by John Graham, and measures over six feet by seven feet in size .

When the Court House burned in 1919, the Coat of Arms was removed and placed in storage. Mayor Walter White had the Coat of Arms reinstalled in the Council chamber in the old City Hall on Prince William Street. It was brought to the lobby of the new City Hall after it opened in 1971.
