City of Portland

Saint John's North End

The "North End" of Saint John is not just a neighbourhood - it is also a state of mind.

What is now known as Saint John's North End began as the Town of Portland. In 1871 Portland was incorporated and by 1883 it was granted municipal status. The new City of Portland flourished and in 1889 it amalgamated with the City of Saint John.
